Trained at Guatemala's National School of Fine Arts and at La Lonja in Barcelona, Banús fused surrealism and magical realism to portray the human figure, folklore and everyday life in Guatemala. He exhibited across Europe and the Americas from 1961, and his legacy is still shown today.
